The One Where It's A Flip Flop Kind Of Day

I've LOVED not having much of a winter this year.  I've loved opening our screen door & turning off the heater most afternoons.  This afternoon, after being stuck inside all day, I decided to get off my lazy behind to take Paige in the back yard to play with the chalk & enjoy the nice weather.

Paige didn't know how she felt about her toddler flip flops, but all 20 bare toes lead to this...

...An impromptu mother daughter pedicure on the patio.  I can't wait until they open the pools, lets hope Paige likes it this year!

Don't mind our short toes :)  We can thank my mom for those.

The One With Quirky Monday - 'Quirks I Love'

Paige has some of the cutest quirks possible.  I love her for having them & being her.  Today's Quirks I Love are mostly about Paige's funny fears.  Paige is kind of a chicken (she totally got that from me), and I'm okay with that.  I'd rather have a chicken child than a brave & exploratory child (is that a word?) that I have to watch even more carefully.  Does that make me a lazy parent??

Anywho... back to Paige.  She makes me laugh so much and lots of the time it's because of her fears.

  • Most recently I gave Paige her first bubble bath a month or so ago.  She was afraid of the bubbles coming her way.   Don't worry, now she loves them and asks for them every bath now.

  • When extended family gives Paige a bath, they always want to squirt water in her face.  She always squirms & makes faces.  (I know, this might not be much of a fear, but it fit okay here... see below...)
  • Lots of months ago, I bought Paige this step stool so she could play her keyboard better.  She was afraid to get off of it without help from me.  Even though the step stool is like 5 inches tall, and she can hold onto the keyboard to support her.
  • Paige seems to be afraid of heights (just like me too!).  Every time someone puts her on their shoulders she gets a scared look in her eyes and frantically tries to find me to let me know she wants down.
  • Rick & I blew up a bunch of balloons for Paige to wake up to & play with on her birthday, but we ran out of hot air (believe it or not), and had a few balloons left over.  Rick has recently started blowing one of them up & letting the air blow back out onto her face.  She gets so excited when he starts blowing it up, but then she gets so scared when he points it to her face.  She's never seemed to like things in her face (see above), or people close to her face.  That's too intrusive to her bubble I guess.
  • The other day I was driving Paige home & she was whining (she's usually an angel in the car).  In order to distract her, I rolled down one of the back windows a crack.  She instantly was startled & made a scared face.  I'm laughing just thinking about it again.  Then, she kept pointing to the other back window (telling me she wanted me to roll that one down too.  I gladly obliged, and she did had the exact same reaction as she did with the first window.  We tried it again with dad in the car later & she did the exact same thing (asking for the second window and all).

*disclaimer... I know not all of these are quirks or even fears, but it seems like the best place to put them because Paige is so darn cute I don't want to forget about these things.

The One With Photo Friday - 'Photo Dump'

My new favorite blog does a 'Friday Phone Photo Dump" where she posts all of her cell pictures from the week into one post.  Since February was busy as could be with Paige's birthday, lots of doctor visits, playdates & me working I decided I should do my own version of Friday Photo Dump.
I'll call it
'February Photo Dump on Friday.'

The main event of February was Paige's birthday.  For her birthday, we didn't have a party, but I still wanted to do something fun for her.  Rick & I blew up balloons to fill her room with (she didn't love it as much as I hoped she would), and I took her to Jump Around Utah while Rick went to work.  We had a few friends come join us (I didn't get pictures of all of them), and it was lots of fun.  Paige loved to pose & 'smile pretty' for lots of pictures.  After Paige's nap & after Rick got home from his last Saturday of working for the year, we blew bubbles (she loved them), then had my parents over for dinner & cake.  It was a really fun day, filled with lots of fun, people we love & a fun, happy birthday girl.  We later had a couple of family parties with Rick's side of the family for her.

As for the rest of February, we went for walks, tried out Paige's new potty, fed millions (okay, not millions, but almost 100) of ducks (there were so many ducks I had to stop taking pictures because they were walking between my feet & trying to eat bread from Paige that she hadn't thrown yet)...

... took lots of funny pictures, went to the park, visited lots of doctors (which Paige was SOOO good at each of them), played doctor 20 times, had slurpees from Target, & went to the zoo.  And those are just the things I got pictures of...

Who knew you could cram in so much into such a short month, but it sure has been fun for us.

please excuse the cell phone pictures.  My battery died in my camera this month & I'm waiting for it to come.

PS. anytime Paige sees a camera pointed at her she 'smiles pretty'... it's the funniest and cutest smile ever.
